One of my longest-standing clients, Southend Mencap is renowned for organising exceptional leisure, education and performance opportunities for people with learning disabilities. The popular MODS group represent Southend Mencap's stage and drama offering and produces a sell-out annual show at the Palace Theatre in Southend-On-Sea.
I was delighted to be commissioned to return for the latest MODS performance, "Tell it to the Rain," producing multi-camera live coverage, editing and DVD design. The thrilling follow-up to last year's "Fallen Angel," MODS' latest dramatic musical was again written by its founders, Georgie and Andrew Watson.
The performance was captured live using Canon EOS Cinema cameras and lenses for incredible colour, dynamic range and visual clarity. The sound was recorded and remixed in post-production, enabling the DVD playback to retain the full audio quality of the live theatre experience. This is a process commonly overlooked by many production companies.
Completing the project, I produced custom DVD artwork incorporating the group's original poster design concept and also wrote promotional copy to appear on the DVD sleeve.
The disc has a running time of three hours and is available direct from the charity, Southend Mencap.
